A Norse Tale

The world of the old Norse gods isn’t an easy one to fathom as there is so much to take in. Originating from the dramatic landscapes of the Scandinavian and Icelandic wilds, these myths were inspired by an environment that only gods could have created. This world, known as Midgard where the humans live, is only one of nine realms that make up the Norse cosmos, which are all linked via the world tree Yggdrasil. In the tree’s highest branches lies Asgard, home of the Aesir, where Odin, the mightiest of all the gods, sits on his throne watching over the cosmos. From here, you can see the frost giants of Jotunheim, or the dark elves of Svartalfheim. Within these nine worlds, many stories take place that continue to inspire modern day tales. Fight alongside Thor against Jormungundr, or see Tyr loose his arm to Fenrir, or witness Loki trick Hodur into shooting his brother Balder with mistletoe. For all the exciting adventures these gods have, they come with their own doomed fate that is Ragnarok, where the gods and giants will face off one last time, and from the ashes a new world will be born. So before you go to battle with the gods, embrace the world of Norse mythology and look forward to drinking from curved horns in Valhalla!
